Woodley Gardens Waves 2024

“Where we grow Sportsmanship, Character, and Teamwork”

The Woodley Gardens Swim Team is a summer-plus competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. For a swimmer to participate on the team, a family or couple (parent-child) membership to the Woodley Gardens Swim and Recreation Association (the Woodley Pool) is required by Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL).

Younger swimmers who are not ready for lanes but can swim confidently across the diving well are welcome.

Calendar: Below are the major WGST swimming events for Summer 2024. For all dates and details, see the Key Dates page.

  • 5/28—Practices start (afternoons)
  • 6/08— Time trials
  • 6/15—1st A meet
  • 6/17–1st morning practice
  • 6/19–1st B meet
  • 7/20—Team banquet
  • 7/20—Season ends
  • 7/27—All Star Relays
  • 7/28—Individual All Stars

Being a Buddy this year

Swimmers age 11 (or so) and up are Big Buddies to younger swimmers. This relationship helps engage younger and older swimmers both in the success of the Waves. It's a lot of fun for everyone! Learn more about the buddy program.

Regular swimmers who register by noon on June 8 (by the end of Time Trials) are eligible for buddies.

If you're not sure your family will be around very much this summer, let us know if you'd like to opt out.
