Woodley Gardens Waves 2022

“Where we grow Sportsmanship, Character, and Teamwork”

The Woodley Gardens Swim Team is a summer-plus competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to international competitor. For a swimmer to participate on the team, a family or couple (parent-child) membership to the Woodley Gardens Swim and Recreation Association (the Woodley Pool) is required by Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL).

Younger swimmers who are not ready for lanes but can swim confidently across the diving well are welcome.

Calendar: Below are the major WGST swimming events for Summer 2022. For all dates and details, see the Key Dates page.

  • 5/31—Practices start (afternoons)
  • 6/11— Time trials
  • 6/18—1st A meet
  • 6/22—Morning practices start
  • 7/23—Team banquet
  • 7/23—Season ends
  • 7/30—All Star Relays
  • 7/1—Individual All Stars

Concession fee

WGST assesses a flat $25/fee per family to support our concessions at home meets.

Buddy program

Swimmers age 11 and up are Big Buddies to younger swimmers. This relationship helps engage younger and older swimmers both in the success of the Waves.

If I am registering a child who will swim in 11-12 age bracket or higher, I know my child will be a Big Buddy this season, and be assigned a Little Buddy. If my 11+ year old swimmer will miss more than 2 meets, I will notify the Buddy Coordinator(s) by June 6, 2022.
